# Mission & Vision

The Mission & Vision of Barakah Finance explained

Barakah Finance was founded on the belief that it is your right to hold, invest, finance and earn digital assets within a ***Shari'ah***** compliant manner**, where ever you live in the world. We believe that decentralization holds the key to empowering people around the world to *access* Islamic Finance products and services at a *fair* price, and that we are helping the world move in this direction by creating innovative smart contracts that transcend the boundaries between the on and offchain worlds.

### What is *Shari'ah* ?

Often translated as the 'religious law of Islam', *Shari'ah* is an Arabic word that is better understood in English as 'the framework which regulates an individual's relationship to God, oneself, other citizens as well as the state'. In the context of Barakah Finance, *Shari'ah* compliance refers to the specific set of transactional rules, regulations and guidelines that relate to an individual Muslim's financial transactions with other people and institutions, that are created to ensure economic injustice at a systemic level is minimised.

## Vision

Barakah Finance empowers people, including those traditionally excluded, through direct and indirect access to digital financial products and services.

## Mission

Ensure that by 2030, *Shari'ah* compliant smart contracts are used in powering Islamic Finance products and services used by 1 billion Muslims, directly, or indirectly.
